Baby Shower Gifts

If you go to a shower, chances are 90% of gifts there will be clothes. Why not buy something different, that children will likely remember, and that can build the bond between parent and child?

Buy a book! (You can follow the links below to buy these picks at Chapters).

Here are some of my favourite choices for showers:

This book was Rebecca's favourite! It's filled with different textures, including rough, bumpy, sticky, soft, and fuzzy, and lots of funny animals. There's also flaps to lift up and surprising discoveries to be made on each page. Ours was so bitten and torn by the time Katie came along it was barely recognizable, and we had to buy a new one. Everyone I know who has a baby gets this book!

Owl Babies tells the story of three little owls, Sarah and Percy and Bill, who are waiting for their mommy to come back. It deals with the fears all little children face, and comes to the conclusion that Mommys love their babies, and will always return. It is so cute! This is a board book, and runs just under $10 usually, though it's available in other formats as well.
