He says, "you’re
never in the mood." She says, "There’s no romance;
what do you expect?" It’s a conflict as old as time. We’re
told "opposites attract" and we’ve seen it in
action, but given time and circumstance, what once lured you
in, can quickly lure you out.
When it comes to
marriage and the issue of sex, there are two opinions and
mind-sets and all too often neither give much ground. It’s
an emotionally challenging, physically driven dilemma that
brings with it frustration, hurt feelings, anger, and even
disrespect.
Women wonder why men
were created with the switch always turned on, and men wonder
why women were created with so many different switches and no
instruction manual.
Romance. Intimacy. Sex.
They are not the same thing, although they definitely go
together and complete the "big picture." Men
equate sex as their currency to feeling loved, while women
need the emotional aspect to feel loved – two very different
needs and therein lays the problem.
Filled with humor and
practical advice, Sheila tackles these issues:
- How change in the
sexual relationship requires change elsewhere.
- Why sex for women
is often a "head thing."
- How television is
the biggest enemy to intimacy.
- Why forgiveness
and letting go of the need to be right is so important.
- How self-image
issues and past hurts can throw intimacy into a
tailspin.
- The repercussions
of everyday energy zappers.
- The threats to
Godly sexuality.
- The roadblocks of
respect.
- The cultural
attacks on gender.

some reviews of Honey, I Don't Have a Headache Tonight!:
From Dee in Austin, TX:
I just finished your
"Honey, I Don't Have a Headache Tonight" book... Thank you
so much for writing this book. It has given me GREAT insight into my
husband and myself... I liked the "use it or lose it"
thought... I am presenting your book to my Moms group next week. I
will highly recommend that they go out and get the book. I look
forward to more of your writings!
Insightful, funny and true-to-life!, September 13, 2004

"Women, if you want to REALLY
understand your man's needs and expectations, this book is for you.
This well-written tome is intended for women, but as a man, let me
tell you, Shiela understands the opposite sex! My wife and I read it
together and learned a lot. Shiela ends each chapter with advice for
men...I appreciate that.
Shiela's writing is crisp; her observations fascinating; her
conclusions dead-on. She offers hope to women with imperfect bodies
and unpredictable sex drives. The book is tastefully modest but is
still direct and to-the-point.
I predict that this book will help thousands of couples experience all
the joy God intended for them in the bedroom. I highly recommend this
book!"
Awesome help for putting an end to those "headaches.",

"Shelia Wray Gregoire has an
incredible way of telling it like it is in this book. I thoroughly
enjoyed reading this book, as did my husband, and will recommend it to
ALL of my married friends. She hit every single nail on the head with
all of my issues concerning sex and intimacy in a Christian marriage,
helping me to feel that I am not alone or abnormal. Sex for women is a
head thing and Sheila teaches you how to retrain your thoughts and
emotions to better allow you to not only enjoy that intimacy with your
husband, but to also WANT it!!! (something I had just about given up
on) Another thing that was great was the way she shows you the men's
perspective on sex. It helps a lot just knowing where he is coming
from. Plus she gives a special section at the end of each chapter just
for the men to read that hits the main points of what you just read
(in case he doesn't want to read the whole book). This is a book I
don't recommend lending to friends, only because you will want to hold
on to it forever and make notes in it and highlite areas and reread it
many, many times! This is the first book of hers I have read, but I
plan to find To Love, Honor, and Vacuum because of how much I enjoyed
reading this one."
